Updates!!

So... I've been working on things. Haven't had time to make final decisions. I've been very indecisive and just super busy with life and other classes. But I created a couple of mood boards

The first one is more girly as well as modern. The icons and designs of shells are simplified and minimal. This seems more contemporary and up to date with other motion graphic designers. The colors are soft but because the colors are complimentary they pop a lot more.
The second is vintage nautical. The seashells are more sketchy and detailed. There is also higher contrast in this one. The sea foam green color is emphasized in both mood boards, however one feels more feminine where the other feels classy.

Then I worked on narrowing down my colors. This was slightly challenging. I originally had colors from a resume I made for myself. I liked them, but the colors vibrated a little too much. I used the Color Tool on Material Design in order to try out different shades of sea foam green. I also used the app called Palette in order to take a picture of the color of my wall and see if I could find a color that closely matches it. I ended up deciding on a sea foam green and coral shades, with the green being my primary color and the coral being my secondary accent color.

The small colors at the top were my top choices and the two main blocks at the bottom were my final choice. What I like most about the pair is that they have such high contrast and I personally like that as an aesthetic for colors and art. I have been a big fan of the Baroque era of painting, more specifically the painter Caravaggio, since I learned about it in high school. I loved his use of high contrast in his paintings in order to create more drama to his pieces. I also realized that my personality reflects this as well. I have a calm, cool collected side of me that is easy going and eager to get things done. But I also have this weird wild side, that explores the weird dark side of things, such as Stephen King novels or watching shows like Dexter and Hannibal. That is why I chose these colors, because they look pretty, as well as reflect who I am as a person.

Next I worked on my logo and what I wanted to call myself. I realized most designers out there, whether for motion, UX, video, whatever, they mostly used their own name. I noticed usually studios would have a more obscure name. This makes sense because designers should represent themselves if they are freelance. However I want to be different, and I feel that having a unique name besides by birth name may achieve that. Originally, I wanted to call myself Richelle Graphics, because I thought I would be in the market to create graphics of any kind, but after going through this project and reading through the Work For Money, Design For Love, I realized that it was super vague and boring. I'm finalizing my idea of calling myself Twisted Seashell Media. I figure this would help me stand out and kind of zero in on what I do. I haven't tested it besides those in my group, but I'm hoping it will work for me.
